WebNov 3, 2012 · It worked okay after I got the quick blade changing upgrade for the saw. They probably only come that way now. I upgraded to a Dewalt in 2003 and then just traded that one for an RBI Hawk 220VS. The Dewalt is a great saw. I found the RBI with the magnifying light, wheels, and a port for a shop vac. WebAug 3, 2009 · The 220 Ultra is the work horse in my shop, it will cut up to 2 5/8 thick (square cuts). I also cut alot of coins and compound cuts with the saw where tension on the saw is a must. It also is the fastest cutting saw out of the three models. That being said, if you plan on doing alot of fret work than I would look for a G426 model.

WebNov 15, 2024 · I recently purchased a used RBI 220VS Hawk through craigslist. The seller indicated the saw was the most recent model when RBI stopped making them (he thought 2008/2009). Anyway, I may have been too trusting when purchasing the saw. The seller claimed the saw worked perfectly bu the hasn't used it in years. WebJun 29, 2024 · They don't have it on their site but they do or maybe I should say did make a motor and controller upgrade kit for these old saws with the problematic AC motor. The upgrade kit isn't cheap at like $350 but it is a brand new motor and control box modified with the new style bearing block on the motor etc.. and is a direct bolt up kit.
WebMay 7, 2016 · The biggest question on the 220 is whether or not the motor is an ac or dc motor. If its a dc motor, it lowers the value considerably because sooner or later that motor will have to be replaced. Which, in turn, requires a kit for the ac motor to fit the saw. The set up w/the motor costs roughly $400. WebJan 8, 2024 · Kevin not sure what old is any more but I have a Hawk 220VS and a 226VS Never had a problem with the back lever poping up. I do not have the barrel clamps. I have the newer ones. There is a flat spot on the lever and it lays flat on the triangle wedge all the way. Make sure.
